Reach into the air and pull a proton out of it. Stack protons, neutrons and electrons into a real atom. Then grab two atoms — one in each hand — and press them together until they fuse. All 118 elements, floating in the actual room you're standing in.
01 — Passthrough
Atomic Smash Lab runs in colour passthrough. No void, no skybox, no pretend laboratory — the game builds itself on top of your real room. The periodic table wall hangs in your space. The supply racks sit within arm's reach. The specimen cabinet goes against your actual wall.
Take the headset off mid-build and everything freezes exactly where you left it — physics, velocities, audio, all of it. Put it back on and the lab picks up mid-thought. Nothing goes flying across the room while you're not looking.
02 — The loop
A faint pointer line runs from your hand along your aim — no button to hold. Squeeze the trigger at a distant atom and a glowing loop snaps around it. Then physically yank your arm back and it reels into your workspace. Harder yank, faster catch.
Every element is a recipe of three ingredients: protons, neutrons, electrons. Grab them off the supply racks and drop them into the assembly zone. Get the counts right and the atom snaps together with a crack of light. Get them wrong and nothing happens — the atom simply isn't that element yet.
Hold grip near a finished atom to grab it — one in each hand — then push them slowly toward each other. The electrons start to race. A covalent bond spins up between them: a tapered plasma spindle with a shared electron pair whirling around the axis, exactly the way the chemistry actually works.

04 — The wall

Swipe the side arrows to pull up a new recipe. Each one wants specific atoms in specific numbers — build them, then smash them together in mid-air.

06 — In the box
Every atom and every molecule you've ever finished gets its own lit pedestal. Finish something new and it materialises in the cabinet right then, mid-celebration, while you're still standing there.
Your guide. Walks you from your first hydrogen tile to your first molecule in about ninety seconds, then gets out of the way. Skippable if you'd rather just start smashing.
Full hand tracking — index pinch does what the trigger does. Or pick up Touch controllers. Both work, and you can switch mid-session without touching a menu.
A physical console in the lab with real buttons you press with a finger. Dial snap strength to 1.0×, 1.5× or 2.0× if lining up particles by hand is fighting you.
One button on the same console. Re-keys every particle and bond so nothing in the game depends on telling red from green.
Lose tracking, or lift the headset, and every rigidbody in the scene freezes and every sound cuts. Come back and it all resumes with the same velocities it had. No lost builds, no glitch-launched protons, no audio bleeding behind the system menu.
